The Department of Biological Chemistry is committed to providing a supportive environment in which the dimensions added by diversity of race, ethnicity, nationality and/or immigration status, culture, socioeconomic status, veteran status, ability, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, and marital status are valued and celebrated. We are dedicated to doing our part to eradicate racism, prejudice, insensitivity and to actively promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within our department, the larger Hopkins community, and academia. The BC department provides support at many levels to our trainees, faculty, staff and university service providers to ensure that they are respected, included, empowered, and engaged.

OUR COMMITTEE

The BC department values diversity equity and inclusion for all trainees, faculty, staff and university service providers. To support these values our department has established a committee, that includes students, postdocs, faculties and staff, to listen, learn, plan, organize, prioritize, and oversee all activities that relate to DEI within our department. Having a separate committee is ensuring that the work is sustainable, and that there is consistent support and oversight, regardless of changes in membership or leadership within the department.
